It was that magical time of the year again and this time… we went all out!
For the second consecutive year, River Bushwillow Estate had the pleasure of hosting our cherished event, Carols by Candlelight. Set against the backdrop of a warm summer evening, this heartwarming gathering aims to usher in the festive spirit and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those less fortunate. Our mission? To raise funds for the Abraham Kriel home, so that the children there can experience the love and support they deserve.
This year, however, marked a significant milestone in our event’s journey. Thanks to the unwavering generosity of our main sponsor, Bothners, the evening was elevated to new heights. Their contribution to state-of-the-art sound equipment not only enhanced the musical experience but also allowed our voices to resonate even further, touching the hearts of all who attended.
But the enhancements didn’t stop there. Building upon the success of the previous year, we decided to introduce a Christmas market to the festivities adding to the ambiance whilst supporting local artisans and businesses.
The turnout this year surpassed all expectations, a testament to the growing sense of community within our estate. Families, friends, and neighbors came together, not only to join in song and carolling but also to show their solidarity with the children of Abraham Kriel.
Yet, amidst it all, there was one moment that truly captured the essence of the evening. It was when the children of our residents, hand in hand with their counterparts from AHK, took to the stage to form our very own little choir. Their voices, pure and full of hope, resonated through the summer night air, melting the hearts of every person present and reminding us all of the power of unity and compassion.
As the evening drew to a close, I found myself overwhelmed with gratitude. Gratitude towards the residents of our estate, whose unwavering support and enthusiasm make events like these possible. Gratitude towards our small committee, Lisa, Junior, Lizelle, Karmeni, Jonty, Armand and Natalie, who spend hours on end getting everything ready. Gratitude towards our vocalists Prisca, Iwan and Bertin, who dedicated their time and talent to guide us through the enchanting melodies. Gratitude towards our sponsors, whose generosity knows no bounds and whose commitment to our cause is truly commendable.
In the end, Carols by Candlelight isn’t just an event; it’s a celebration of community, kindness, and the spirit of giving. And as we reflect on another successful year, we are reminded that together, we can make a difference, one candle, one carol, and one act of kindness at a time.
